The building that will be lit pink is El Corte Inglés de Sagasta in Zaragoza, one of the company’s 27 centers taking part in the initiative during October. The campaign will also reach stores in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia and Seville, as well as Lisbon and Porto. The lighting has already begun in the Spanish capital, where the facade on Calle Goya was illuminated on Wednesday at an event attended by representatives of the series La Promesa.
CHARITABLE PRODUCTS WHOSE SALES WILL HELP FUND RESEARCH
The facade lighting is part of a charity campaign that El Corte Inglés is running from October 1 to 24 at its shopping centers, on its website and through its app. During these weeks, customers will be able to purchase selected products, with sales helping to fund a research project by the Spanish Association Against Cancer, led by Dr. Ángela Nieto at the Institute of Neurosciences of Alicante.
The study aims to understand why some cancer cells develop resistance to treatment and how to prevent tumors from returning. To do so, researchers will analyze these cells’ ability to adapt using advanced technologies, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic strategies to prevent relapses.
The campaign will also involve numerous fashion, accessories and homeware brands. Between October 17 and 19, several companies will donate one euro from each selected item sold to research, while others will contribute part of their sales on specific dates. Thermal bottles, T-shirts, handbags, backpacks and other charity products will allow customers to join this awareness-raising initiative and provide financial support for research.
