Adverse weather conditions affecting several parts of Spain this Tuesday are having a direct impact on rail services. Renfe has announced the suspension of some of its high-speed and medium-distance trains, specifically those operating in Catalonia. Some have Zaragoza as their origin or destination, affecting the journeys of hundreds of passengers in Aragon.
The disruption has been scheduled from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., which corresponds to the period of greatest risk identified in the weather alerts. In Aragon, the disruption has affected a total of four AVE trains. Specifically, delays are affecting the Figueres-Vilafant–Madrid AVE service (7:53 a.m.), which serves Zaragoza; the Barcelona–Madrid service (9:55 a.m.), which stops in Zaragoza and Calatayud; the Madrid–Figueres-Vilafant service (7:27 a.m.), which serves Zaragoza; and the Madrid–Barcelona service (8:27 a.m.), which stops in Zaragoza.
Two Alvia trains have also been affected: the Alvia Barcelona–Bilbao service, departing at 8:50 a.m., and the Alvia Barcelona–Vigo-Urzáiz service, departing at 9:05 a.m. Both serve Zaragoza. The rail company also stressed that these services are operating with delays and that their services have not been fully suspended in any case.
In response to the disruption, Renfe has enabled passengers to change or cancel, free of charge, tickets they are unable to use. Affected travelers will be notified by SMS or email using the contact details associated with their booking.
The rail company has also asked travelers to check Aemet alerts before undertaking any journey. The measures will remain in place until weather conditions are expected to improve.
