III Pilar Race draws 1,200 participants in support of people with spinal cord injuries

Around 1,200 people took part this Sunday in the 2026 III Pilar Race across its various formats: 10K, 4.5K, walking and children's races. The event is consolidating its position as one of the city's leading sporting and charity events, particularly because of its high female participation, making it the race with the largest presence of women in the city after the Women's Race.

In the main race, the top three finishers in the men's category were Ezequiel García Sarti, Julio Gimeno Co and Alberto Sistac Sanz, while the women's podium was made up of Katia Lucas de Prado, Paula Muñoz López and María Llorente Omeñac.

In the 4.5-kilometer race, the men's classification was led by José Ángel Columbrere Aznar, followed by Sergio Galve Lahoz and Iván Martínez Riobello. In the women's category, Sonia Gaset Barrueco took first place, with Lucía Blanco Cestero finishing second and Sofía Domingo Ortín third.

Beyond the sporting results, the event once again highlighted the inclusive and participatory nature of a race that brings together runners of different ages and abilities, from those taking part in the children's events to competitors tackling the 4.5- and 10-kilometer distances.

The charity component was once again the main focus of the initiative. All proceeds from the III Pilar Race will be allocated entirely to launching a therapeutic garden for people with spinal cord injuries at Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza, a project aimed at contributing to their recovery and well-being.
