The projects will reduce the energy consumption of both buildings, improve their thermal performance and increase indoor comfort, bringing them into line with current energy efficiency and sustainability standards. Specifically, the reduction in non-renewable primary energy consumption will exceed 93% at the Casetas health center and 68% at the Miralbueno center.
In Casetas, the work was awarded to ACYC Obras y Servicios, S.L.U. for €2,307,154.38, with a scheduled completion period of eight months. Work on the building envelope includes improving insulation in the facade and roofs, replacing exterior window frames and installing solar protection systems. The heating and cooling production and distribution systems will be renewed, and the interior lighting will be replaced with more efficient systems. As a result, the center will move from a C to an A rating for CO2 emissions and from an E to an A rating for non-renewable primary energy consumption.
At the Miralbueno health center, the work was awarded to Elecnor Servicios y Proyectos, S.A.U. for €1,386,680.85, with a scheduled completion period of five months. The project will improve insulation in the roofs, raised floor and garage, replace the exterior window frames on the east, south and southwest facades, and install solar protection on windows facing east and southwest.
In addition, the heating and cooling system will operate using air-source heat pumps, the distribution and control systems will be modernized, and the lighting in the consultation rooms will be replaced with more efficient solutions. The building will achieve an A energy rating for both CO2 emissions and non-renewable primary energy consumption, compared with its current C rating on both indicators, which will also reduce its operating costs.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT SEEKS TO PROMOTE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Both projects are part of the SAN01 Energy Efficiency in the Aragonese Health Service initiative, included in the Aragon ERDF Programme 2021-2027 under specific objective RSO2.1, aimed at promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative seeks to substantially reduce energy consumption in Salud's buildings and incorporate an increasing number of near-zero-energy buildings.
The projects will also make it possible to obtain and sell Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) to make the investment profitable. Through this mechanism, Aragon has become the first Spanish public administration to monetize its energy savings.
