The working session, organized by the Directorate-General for Care and Humanization, is part of the participatory process launched on September 3. Its aim is to bring contributions from different sectors into the debate before moving forward with one of the key decisions for the development of the new hospital.
Representatives of professional associations, trade unions, business organizations, universities and scientific societies took part in the meeting. Participants worked in small groups to identify the strengths, opportunities and aspects that should be taken into account at each location.
ACCESS, TRANSPORT AND SCOPE FOR EXPANSION
The elements analyzed included the accessibility of each area, its connections to the main roads and public transport, its integration into the surrounding urban area, and the availability of basic infrastructure and services. The capacity for future hospital expansions was also assessed, along with the physical and technical characteristics of the sites and other factors related to the safety and sustainability of the project.
The four options remain the General Military Academy area, San Gregorio, Ronda de Boltaña and Cogullada road. After working in groups, participants shared their conclusions and submitted proposals related to each site.
PARTICIPATORY PROCESS TO CONTINUE NEXT WEEK
The Health Department will hold a second session next week using the same methodology and involving the remaining members of the Aragón Health Council. In this way, the Department aims to broaden the contributions before continuing to make progress toward the final selection of the site.
The regional government views this process as a tool for incorporating different perspectives into one of the main healthcare projects planned for Zaragoza and Aragón over the coming years. The aim is for professionals, organizations and social representatives to identify the needs they consider priorities for the future facility.
The new Royo Villanova is conceived as a modern hospital with the capacity to respond to healthcare needs in the coming decades. The project also aims to strengthen its teaching and research functions and provide facilities adapted to both patients and professionals.
