From Building a LEGO Prosthesis to Inspiring Young People: “Hand Solo” Shares His Experience with IES Miralbueno Students

Aguilar, an ambassador for Fundación Adecco, will be the featured speaker at an awareness-raising event at the school through his talk A Lego Life. He will explain to students how he began building his own prostheses with the popular construction pieces and how that interest ultimately shaped his career path.

His experience will also provide an opportunity to address issues related to disability, talent and professional opportunities, showing students how personal abilities can become a tool for building their own future.

A ROLE MODEL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

One of the initiative’s main objectives is for students with disabilities to find in David Aguilar a relatable role model who encourages them to plan their academic and professional futures. At the same time, the activity aims to prompt other students to question some of the prejudices and stereotypes that still surround disability.

Fundación Adecco also seeks to involve the entire educational community in creating more inclusive environments, conveying an idea it considers essential both in classrooms and in the labor market: valuing people for their talent and skills rather than for the labels that may accompany them.

The event is part of Fundación Adecco’s Unidos Project, an initiative aimed at people under 30 with disabilities who are studying or have completed Vocational Training, a university degree or a master’s degree.

FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE LABOR MARKET

The program aims to build bridges between education and business in order to support these young people during their transition into employment. Its objectives include bringing them closer to the reality of companies, strengthening their professional skills and helping them access the labor market on an equal footing.

“Hand Solo’s” visit is also part of the activities marking the 60th anniversary of IES Miralbueno. Representatives of the Aragon Education Inspectorate are also expected to attend the event.
