Under the slogan Every step counts. More sport, more health: less loneliness, the walk will set off at 10.00 a.m. from the Cantautores Bridge and will take place at a relaxed pace, with no competitive element. Although it is aimed particularly at older people, it will also be open to anyone who wishes to accompany them along the route. Participants must register in advance by September 30 or until all places are filled.
The event will bring four days of activities focused on healthy ageing, active living and unwanted loneliness to a close, with sport serving as one of the programme's main themes. The series is promoted by the Directorate-General for Older People of the Government of Aragon and will run from September 29 to October 2.
ELSA PUNSET OPENS THE PROGRAMME
Before the walk, the programme will begin on Tuesday, September 29, at 6.30 p.m. with the talk Proposals for Living in These Extraordinary Times, given by writer and science communicator Elsa Punset. Journalist Sergio Melendo will host the event, which will be held at the Caja Rural de Aragón building at Coso 29, with free admission until capacity is reached.
Wednesday will focus on sport with the panel discussion Live More. Live Better, featuring Fernando Arcega, doctor and former basketball player Juan Antonio Corbalán, and Jesús Villanueva, Real Zaragoza's doctor from 1982 to 2014. The three will discuss their careers and the importance of physical activity in maintaining a long and healthy life.
The programme will continue on Thursday, October 1, with the third edition of the Older Persons Awards, which will be presented at noon in the Goya Room of the Government of Aragon building located in Plaza de San Pedro Nolasco.
The series forms part of the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons and aims to highlight both the benefits of an active life and the importance of creating spaces for meeting and companionship. The initiative is supported by Fundación Caja Rural de Aragón, COFEDAR and OSANDARINES Aragón.
