The State Meteorological Agency has warned of the possibility of heavy or very heavy showers in eastern Spain, which could be accompanied by storms, hail and strong gusts of wind. The rainfall could cause sudden local flooding in low-lying areas, streams, ravines and dry riverbeds, so people are advised to exercise extreme caution and follow the information published through official channels at all times.
ES-ALERT IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY
ES-Alert sounded again this Thursday on the mobile phones of residents of the neighboring Valencian Community amid the red warning for rain and storms in the provinces of Castellon and Valencia. Specifically, according to the message, following the activation of red-level weather alerts for rain in the northern inland areas and coastal areas of Castellon and the coastal areas of Valencia, "there is an extraordinary danger situation." As reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), orange-level warnings will begin at 2:00 p.m., with the red level activated from 6:00 p.m. in areas of inland Castellon very close to Teruel province.
ADVICE AND PRECAUTIONS
Aragon 112 advises the public to remain attentive to weather forecasts and official warnings, avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from riverbeds, ravines, dry riverbeds, torrents or areas that may flood. If in an exposed area, it is important to identify the highest points and move toward them if the water level rises.
Never attempt to cross a flooded area, ford, ravine or stretch of road covered by water on foot or by vehicle, as the current can sweep away both people and vehicles.
Inside buildings and homes, people are advised to close doors, windows and ventilation outlets, place important documents, valuables, water, food and hazardous products in elevated locations, and switch off the main electricity breaker if water enters the property. Do not go down to basements, garages or underground areas, or remain on ground floors if the water level begins to rise
.If using a vehicle, do not park next to rivers, ravines, dry riverbeds, torrents or bridges. During heavy rain, people are advised to use main roads and highways whenever possible, reduce speed, increase the safety distance and, if visibility is insufficient, stop in a safe place and properly signal the vehicle's position.
People are also advised to remove from outside their homes any objects that could be swept away by water, avoid outdoor activities during the most intense periods of the storm and not take shelter under trees, metal structures or isolated objects.
In an emergency, call 112 immediately, clearly provide your location and the information requested by the operator, and follow their instructions. The 112 telephone number should be used only in emergency situations, not to request weather information or check road conditions.
The Government of Aragon and Aragon 112 will keep the public informed about the development of the episode, weather warnings and possible incidents through their official channels and social media.
