Aragón never misses coffee time: 1.8 million cups consumed daily, mostly at home

A cup of coffee is one of the gestures repeated every morning in many Aragonese homes. Some drink it as soon as they wake up, others prefer to order it at a café, while some wait until their work or university break. This daily habit translates into around 1.8 million cups of coffee consumed every day in Aragón across homes and hospitality establishments.

Most of that coffee is consumed at home. Aragonese households account for around 1.3 million cups a day, while consumption in hospitality establishments stands at approximately 500,000 cups daily. These are the figures included in the Report on the Coffee Sector in Spain (2024-2025), presented by the Spanish Coffee Association (AECafé), which for the first time includes an analysis of consumption by autonomous community to provide a more detailed understanding of habits inside and outside the home across different regions.

Household consumption is particularly significant in Aragón. Homes account for around 70% of total coffee consumption, placing the region, along with Catalonia and Castilla-La Mancha, among the territories where this channel has the greatest relative importance.

MORE THAN 66 MILLION CUPS OF COFFEE A DAY IN SPAIN

Coffee is also part of the daily routine of millions of people across the country. More than 66 million cups are consumed every day in Spain and, in individual terms, each Spaniard drinks more than 558 cups a year, equivalent to 4.19 kilograms of coffee per person. In 2025, national production of roasted and soluble coffee exceeded 218,000 tonnes, while its value grew by 22% compared with the previous year.

Spain is also the second-largest European market in terms of the coffee sector's economic impact, behind only Germany, with more than 63 billion euros in economic activity. The value chain supports nearly 507,000 jobs, while exports of roasted and soluble coffee exceeded 1 billion euros in 2025, representing 30.5% growth in value compared with the previous year.
