Figueruelas enters a new era with Leapmotor B10 production and B05 coming in 2027

The Stellantis plant in Figueruelas began mass production of the Leapmotor B10 this Friday, marking the first time the Chinese brand has manufactured a model in Zaragoza. The factory is opening a new chapter 44 years after starting operations, following decades defined by models such as the Opel Corsa, and is becoming a key hub for Leapmotor’s industrial expansion in Europe.

The B10 is a C-segment electric SUV that until now reached the European market imported from China. It is 4.5 meters long, delivers 218 hp and has a range of more than 430 kilometers. It is also currently Leapmotor’s best-selling model in Spain, with 2,790 registrations in the first nine months of 2026.

A SECOND LEAPMOTOR WILL ARRIVE IN 2027

Production of the B10 will not be the brand’s only move in Figueruelas. During the event, it was confirmed that the Zaragoza factory will begin producing the Leapmotor B05 during the first half of 2027. The plant has already carried out pre-series production of this compact electric model, and the company believes its arrival reinforces its industrial commitment to Zaragoza.

The new models will also make it possible to increase the workload at a factory that had experienced a period of lower activity in recent years. Stellantis continues to manufacture the Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208 and Lancia Ypsilon on Line 1, while the new Leapmotor production is concentrated on Line 2. This new phase has been accompanied by between 400 and 500 hires in recent months.

THE IMPACT EXTENDS TO ARAGON’S SUPPLIER INDUSTRY

Leapmotor’s arrival is also generating activity beyond Figueruelas. The Chinese company has installed a battery workshop in Mallén, while a new Lieder Automotive plant has begun operating in Borja, the result of an alliance between China’s Duoli and Fagor Ederlan. The factory represents an investment of 40 million euros, has 14 production lines, 140 robots and 170 employees, and will be able to supply up to 40,000 chassis per year for the B10 and B05 models, as well as other customers.

During the event, Aragón President Jorge Azcón highlighted that these projects mean not only new investment and direct employment, but also the creation of an industrial ecosystem around the automotive sector in towns such as Mallén, Pedrola and Borja.
