BOE confirms Spain's 2027 public holidays and long weekends in Aragon

Spain's 2027 working calendar is now official. The Government of Aragon approved the region's public holidays a month ago, and the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the nationwide calendar this Tuesday, October 13. It includes 12 national and regional public holidays in each territory, nine of which will be common to all autonomous communities.

THE NINE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS OBSERVED ACROSS SPAIN IN 2027

The calendar published in the BOE establishes eight non-substitutable national public holidays, joined by Epiphany, which no autonomous community has decided to change. These are therefore the nine dates that will be observed across the country:

January 1 (Friday): New Year's Day. January 6 (Wednesday): Epiphany or Three Kings' Day. March 26 (Friday): Good Friday. May 1 (Saturday): Labour Day. October 12 (Tuesday): Spain's National Day. November 1 (Monday): All Saints' Day. December 6 (Monday): Spanish Constitution Day. December 8 (Wednesday): Immaculate Conception. December 25 (Saturday): Christmas Day.

WHAT OTHER PUBLIC HOLIDAYS WILL THERE BE IN ARAGON IN 2027?

In addition to the nine dates observed across Spain, Aragon's working calendar includes three more public holidays, bringing the total number of holidays established for the autonomous community to 12:

March 25 (Thursday): Maundy Thursday. April 23 (Friday): Saint George's Day and Aragon Day. August 16 (Monday): a day off resulting from the transfer of the Assumption of the Virgin, which falls on Sunday, August 15.

Aragon will therefore have 12 national and regional public holidays in 2027, to which two local holidays per municipality must be added, bringing the total number of public holidays in the working calendar to 14.

WHEN WILL THERE BE LONG WEEKENDS IN ARAGON IN 2027?

Aragon's 2027 working calendar will offer several opportunities to enjoy long weekends without using annual leave. The first will come right at the start of the year, with New Year's Day falling on Friday, January 1, allowing people to take time off through Sunday, January 3. The next opportunity will be Easter, when Maundy Thursday, March 25, and Good Friday, March 26, will allow people to enjoy four consecutive days off, through Sunday, March 28.

Just over a month later will come one of the most important dates for the people of Aragon. April 23, Saint George's Day and Aragon Day, will fall on a Friday, creating another three-day long weekend from April 23 to 25.

After the summer, Monday, August 16, a public holiday in Aragon due to the transfer of the Assumption of the Virgin, will allow people to enjoy three consecutive days off starting on Saturday 14. The next significant date will be October 12, the Day of the Pillar, which will fall on a Tuesday. In this case, those who take Monday 11 off will be able to extend the weekend to four days, from Saturday, October 9, through Tuesday, October 12.

Just three weeks later, All Saints' Day will fall on Monday, November 1, creating another three-day long weekend starting on Saturday, October 30. To close out the year, December will offer one particularly attractive final opportunity: Constitution Day, on Monday, December 6, will create three consecutive days off, while those who take Tuesday 7 off can also make use of the Immaculate Conception holiday on Wednesday 8 and enjoy five consecutive days without working, from Saturday, December 4, through Wednesday, December 8, using just one vacation day.
