Aragonese travel agencies see potential in Zaragoza’s new routes: “Make them real and do them properly”

The new connections planned from Zaragoza Airport for summer 2027 have sparked interest among Aragonese travel agencies. Elisa Molina Yago, director of Agencies and Marketing at Agencia de Viajes Mundo Actur, believes the expansion could offer travelers new options, although details such as flight dates and frequencies have yet to be finalized.

Among the announced destinations, Molina Yago highlights the return of Paris as one of the most notable. The agency director believes the connection could be especially popular with families traveling to Disneyland Paris, while also making getaways to the French capital easier.

The domestic offering has also caught her attention, with connections such as Alicante and Málaga. In her view, the new routes could attract very different types of travelers, although many younger passengers will choose to book their flights directly online.

PARIS AND TRAVEL PACKAGES AMONG THE OPPORTUNITIES

“We are all eager to see Paris return,” Molina Yago explains, saying the connection could be particularly useful for families with children. In her opinion, the schedules ultimately established will be important in determining the route’s appeal.

The expansion of destinations could also benefit travel agencies. Although many travelers are used to buying only their plane tickets, the Mundo Actur director explains that some customers still seek convenience and prefer to book an entire trip. “Even when they take Ryanair flights, they ask us for the full package,” she says.

In these cases, agencies can arrange accommodation, visits and other services associated with the trip. Molina Yago believes this type of customer will continue turning to travel agencies, especially those who prefer to have the entire itinerary organized in advance.

ZARAGOZA AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO MADRID AND BARCELONA

The new connections could also expand Zaragoza Airport’s catchment area. Molina Yago believes travelers from regions located around two hours away by road could see Zaragoza as an alternative for international travel, rather than having to go to Madrid or Barcelona.

“It could encourage other regions that are more or less two hours away to come here without any problem,” she says. However, she notes that travelers from some areas still use other airports because they offer more extensive operations.

The Mundo Actur director also emphasizes the need for the airport to be prepared to handle the increase in activity. Based on her experience accompanying groups, she says she has already encountered problems related to check-in times and computer systems. “It is not just about making the announcement. Everything has to be done properly,” she says.

Therefore, although she welcomes the announcement, she insists that the routes must now be finalized and the new operations must be guaranteed to run smoothly: “Make them real and do them properly.”
