The Government of Spain has dismissed six delegates: Fernando Beltrán in Aragon; Pilar Bernabé in Valencia; Adriana Lastra in Asturias; Carlos Prieto in Catalonia; Pedro Fernández in Andalusia; and José Luis Quintana in Extremadura. All of them are stepping away from their responsibilities to join the 29N election campaign.
Just as Pedro Sánchez has turned to his ministers for the general elections and as candidates in regional elections, he is now using his top territorial officials to strengthen the Socialist candidacies with people he trusts.
Fernando Beltrán previously put himself forward as a candidate to challenge Natalia Chueca for the Zaragoza mayoralty in 2027. However, the PSOE has decided that his new destination will be the Congress of Deputies, leading the list in Zaragoza. This reshuffle leaves Noelia Herrero as the central government’s top representative in the region, while also leaving the position of Spain’s deputy government delegate in Zaragoza vacant.
