Azcón also announced that the 2027 budget will be “historic”, with more resources than ever for healthcare and education, as well as increased funding for other policies that, he stressed, are among the main concerns of Aragon residents. These include housing, roads, and fire prevention and response.
Meanwhile, the Finance Department is working on the final adjustments to the draft. The president explained that the department is focused on “tying up all loose ends” and completing pending meetings and contacts so that the budget can be presented “in the best possible way”.
Housing Minister Octavio López also addressed the issue after the Cabinet meeting. He said that the ministers had put forward their “reasonable requests” and that, in his case, he was “reasonably satisfied” with the investment allocated to his department. “There are only a few days left before we learn the plans of a government that is fully dynamic and never stops transforming Aragon,” he said.
HEALTHCARE AND EDUCATION BUDGET
The Aragon Government will allocate around 3.1 billion euros to healthcare in the 2027 budget, a figure that, according to regional President Jorge Azcón, will set a new historic high for the region. This investment will allow projects such as the new Alcañiz Hospital, the Obispo Polanco University Hospital in Teruel, where the linear accelerator is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2027, and the future Royo Villanova Hospital to continue moving forward.
The administration also plans to increase the education budget by 20% in 2027, providing around 350 million euros more than in the previous financial year. According to statements by Azcón last Tuesday, the increase will allow the government to strengthen teaching staff, improve teachers' pay, promote new educational infrastructure and adapt schools to high temperatures, as well as increase resources for the University of Zaragoza, science and research.
