CHA Organization Secretary Ruth Pina announced the latest developments in the process on Monday, after the deadline for submitting candidacies ended on September 28. In Zaragoza, by contrast, two candidacies will compete to lead the list: Chuaquín Bernal and Luis Pastor, both of whom obtained more than 10% of the required endorsements.
ALASTRUEY, CANDIDATE FOR HUESCA
As there were no other candidacies in Huesca, no vote will be necessary and Alastruey will take the top spot on the list. Born in Huesca in 1973, she has been a member of Chunta Aragonesista since October 2014 and has served as coordinator of CHA-Uesca since March 2020, a position from which she has taken part in the city's social and political life.
Alastruey thanked party members for their support: “Huesca needs Chunta Aragonesista on the City Council to transform and improve people's lives, seeking solutions and carrying out projects, in contrast to the mediocre management and nonexistent plan of Lorena Orduna and her team.
The candidate for Huesca said the city needs the council to "have representatives who are close to the people and to the entire social fabric, who accept criticism, manage with ambition and believe in the potential of Aragon's second city." "With the support of the people of Huesca, we are going to make history. We are going to return to the City Council to energize this city and wake it from its lethargy,” she predicted.
She also believes the city must address both major issues and local politics, so that every resident, every street and every square in all the neighborhoods has its importance, whether it is called San Voto, Martínez de Velasco or Desengaño. In this regard, she said that “the people of Huesca know about the immense, serious and close work that Chunta Aragonesista carries out when it is in institutions, and even what we are capable of doing from outside them. Drive, work, passion and closeness are what is being demanded and what this city needs”.
TWO CANDIDACIES FOR ZARAGOZA
In Zaragoza, two candidacies will seek to lead the CHA list for City Council. Chuaquín Bernal and Luis Pastor have exceeded the 10% of endorsements required to take part in the primaries.
Chuaquín Bernal is president of CHA-Zaragoza and secretary of Finance of Chunta Aragonesista, and was already a candidate in the 2023 municipal elections. Luis Pastor, meanwhile, was a Zaragoza city councillor from 1999 to 2007. During the final four years of that period, he was part of the Municipal Government, heading the Sports Department.
The vote to choose the person who will lead CHA's candidacy for Zaragoza City Council will be held this Friday, October 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the CHA headquarters, located at 28 Predicadores Street in Zaragoza.
