Zaragoza Mayor Natalia Chueca attended the opening alongside the president of the Royal Aragonese Football Federation, Manuel Torralba, and highlighted the significance of receiving the trophy on the final day of the Pilar Festival. "We have the perfect finale to close these festivities," the mayor said, thanking both federations for including Zaragoza on the exhibition's tour. Visitors can view the cup and enjoy an audiovisual experience recalling some of the World Cup's most memorable moments through an emotional video narrated by Luis de la Fuente.
HOURS AND HOW TO VISIT THE WORLD CUP TROPHY IN ZARAGOZA
The Kings of the World exhibition will be held in the Reception Hall of Zaragoza City Hall this Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Monday, October 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. To enter, visitors must join the line set up at the entrance to City Hall in Plaza del Pilar and register by following the organizers' instructions, after which they will receive a ticket. Admission will be granted in order of arrival.
On Tuesday, October 20, the trophy will be moved to another area of City Hall and displayed in the ground-floor entrance hall from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. without interruption. Registration will not be required that day, although admission will also be granted in order of arrival. There will therefore be two different ways to visit: the exhibition with audiovisual content during the first two days, and the display of the trophy at the building's entrance on the final day.
The first visitors celebrated the opportunity to see up close a cup they had previously only watched on television. Jaime, who arrived at 8:00 a.m. despite the rain, said the experience had been worth the wait. "The video was tremendous, very moving," he told ARAGÓN DIGITAL. He also said the images had brought back memories of the championship: "I got goosebumps." Among the first visitors was also 11-year-old Nicole, who described the experience as "really cool" and said she was impressed to see the national team's goals again.
The trophy's visit will have another highlight on Monday, October 19, from 11:30 a.m., when an official ceremony is scheduled to take place with the participation of Chueca, Aragon's president, Jorge Azcón; RFEF president Rafael Louzán; Manuel Torralba; and national team coach Luis de la Fuente, among other officials. The trophy will subsequently be offered to the Virgin of the Pillar. The cup's arrival thus brings one of the symbols of that celebration back to the square where more than 32,400 fans watched the World Cup final.
THE WORLD CUP TROPHY BRINGS 6,000 FOOTBALLERS TO ZARAGOZA
The World Cup trophy will also take center stage this Sunday at Zaragoza's Pedro Sancho Stadium, where the Royal Aragonese Football Federation (RFAF) has organized a welcome event for the trophy, with nearly 6,000 football and futsal players expected to take part. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., when attendees will be able to take photographs alongside the cup.
The main ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. and will include commemorative videos and speeches by RFAF president Manuel Torralba and Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Rafael Louzán.
