Zaragoza bids farewell to the World Cup: "It is a unique experience"

The World Cup won by the Spanish national team this summer in the United States is completing its stay in Zaragoza, where it is on display in the city hall lobby so residents can say goodbye before the RFEF takes it on tour across the rest of Spain. They can have their picture taken with the trophy until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. A long line had already formed early in the morning for those hoping to be first to take a photo with the continental trophy.

"The truth is that it is going very quickly and we have barely been queuing for half an hour, which is appreciated given how cold it is," Inocencio said after having his picture taken. He had gone with his wife, Divina, to see a trophy they had not yet had the opportunity to view. "It is a unique experience because you do not always get to see a trophy of this caliber in person," Divina said.

The line moved quickly, and both Ángel and Carmen were very proud to be able to take a picture with the trophy. "We took advantage of the opportunity because he really lives and breathes football and is very excited to be here," Carmen said. Meanwhile, Ángel looked excitedly at his photos with a beaming smile that reflected the joy of the experience.

Pilar and Nuria were patiently waiting their turn, and the occasion was also special for them because Pilar had attended the 2010 celebration, when Spain earned its first star. But "now it feels different because I am truly aware of what it means." Both were excited, as they had not had the opportunity to attend on either of the previous two days and were already nervously awaiting their turn to see the World Cup.

CHUECA REVIEWS THE EXHIBITION

Mayor Natalia Chueca was present in the lobby welcoming visitors and reviewed the exhibition in the Aragonese capital. "More than 5,000 people have been able to enjoy it over the previous two days, and today we can already see that people are still coming to have their picture taken with what represents the pride of being Spanish," the mayor said.

For Chueca, having the World Cup in Zaragoza "has been an enormous privilege" because, in her view, "Plaza del Pilar was one of the images that showed how it was experienced in Spain, and it was one of the places where people enjoyed the national team the most. It is a way of recognizing everything we experienced together."
