The programme’s standout offering is the tradition and humanities conference series "How They Saw Us: Foreign Travellers and Journeys Through Aragon". The event will take place from 15 to 16 October and will explore how travellers viewed Aragon before and during the Napoleonic period from different perspectives.
The programme will continue with the 1st Conference on "Translation and Humanities: Aragon in Travel Literature". The conference will delve into translation, literature, history and Aragonese culture. The MHISTRAD conference on missionary translation is also scheduled to take place.
In November, specifically from 12 to 13 at UNED’s Faculty of Philology, the Translator’s House will take part in the international conference "Daughters of Proteus: Women Translators in the Hispanic World (16th–20th Centuries)", highlighting the work of women during an era that was far from easy for them when it came to pursuing this profession. It will also take part in a workshop in Valencia on censorship and gender diversity in literary translation.
THE REST OF THE PROGRAMME
Over the coming months, the Meeting on the Creation and Establishment of Artistic Networks in Aragon will be held, and the 1st Paco Uriz Translation Prize will be awarded for stories translated from French and English into Spanish. In addition, the Translator’s House will take part in the 5th Aurora Bernárdez Research Seminar on Literary Translation, which will be held in Zaragoza on 30 September.
Other activities will be aimed at schools, with the goal of bringing culture and translation to younger children across the province.
