From a street art fair to family workshops: a free program comes to this Zaragoza street

Street art will extend beyond El Gancho’s façades this weekend. While Festival Asalto interventions continue taking shape across the neighborhood, number 59 on San Pablo Street will become its meeting point, hosting a program of art fairs, workshops, talks and participatory activities from Thursday, September 24, to Sunday, September 27.

Activities will begin this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. with the presentation of the Portales Project, an initiative that artistically transforms different shared spaces in the neighborhood’s building entrances, in dialogue with residents and with the support of Zaragoza Vivienda.

On Friday, also at 8:00 p.m., the presentation of “Mapping Street Art in Spain” will take place. The research analyzes the professional context of street art and artistic practices developed in public spaces. Diana Prieto, from Madrid Street Art Project; Andrea Barreira, from Delas Fest/7HCoop; and Daniela Giraldo, from Contorno Urbano, will take part in the event.

STREET ART FAIR AND FAMILY WORKSHOPS

On Saturday afternoon, Espacio Asalto will also host a Meet&Greet with independent creative spaces from Zaragoza, including Un taller azul, Espacio Cruce, Kymana Estudio and Espacio Moos, with the aim of bringing part of the city’s creative scene closer to the public.

One of the weekend’s highlights will be Asalto Fair, the festival’s street art and contemporary creation fair. It will be open on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., alongside family workshops and participatory activities.

The program includes names such as Colectivo Paprika, Asis Percales and Jorge Aliaga, in an effort to expand the festival beyond the interventions that continue taking shape on the neighborhood’s streets these days.
