Libraries Day 2026 will take place this year under the slogan "Without professionals, there are no libraries", an initiative highlighting the role of those who work every day to ensure these spaces remain places for community, knowledge, inclusion and access to culture.
ZARAGOZA PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAM
The Zaragoza Public Library has prepared a program combining reading, oral storytelling and participatory activities to celebrate the occasion. Activities will begin on October 23 with the Reading Party, at 6:30 p.m., a cultural and community gathering aimed at adults in which participants will share a collective silent reading experience away from screens, followed by an opportunity to exchange literary impressions and recommendations.
On October 24, the library will host two family storytelling sessions with Hola Monstruo and Mariela Cisneros, at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The show offers a participatory journey through classics such as "Little Red Riding Hood" and "The Vain Little Mouse", inviting children and adults to sing, play, dance and actively take part in the development of the stories.
That same day, at 12:00 p.m., the library’s bookmark competition awards ceremony will take place. This year’s slogan was "The library has a face, draw it!" In addition, throughout the day, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., all members who visit the library will receive a commemorative gift to mark Libraries Day.
TERUEL PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAM
The Teruel Public Library has designed a program focused on creativity, therapeutic reading and inclusion. The first activity will take place this Saturday with the "Fabled Animals" illustration workshop, led by Alberto Gamón and aimed at young people aged 8 to 13. The session, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will explore the world of fables and anthropomorphic animals.
On Wednesday, October 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the creative bibliotherapy workshop "From Myth to Story and to Each Their Moment" will be held for adults and led by Laura Lahoz. The initiative will use the reading of texts for therapeutic purposes as the starting point for a literary creation process in which attendees will write their own short story.
The program will continue on October 23 with a storytelling session by Embolicarte, specifically aimed at students from the CPEE Arboleda in Teruel. The center’s students have permanent special educational needs associated with sensory, motor and intellectual disabilities, severe behavioral disorders, pervasive developmental disorder, autism spectrum disorder and multiple disabilities.
Finally, on Saturday, October 24, the Teatro Arbolé company will perform "Ugly Duckling", an adaptation of the classic tale addressing values such as respect for differences, coexistence and personal development. The family activity will feature two sessions, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
HUESCA PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAM
